Where To Ski Near Colorado Springs? [Answered!]

Sharing is Caring

With deep snow and summer temperatures making their presence felt, it’s time for skiers and snowboarders to hit the hill and get some powder on their shoes.

But where should you ski if you’re visiting or living in Colorado? It can be tricky to know where to go and what equipment to bring, especially since the state is home to some of the biggest ski resorts in the country. If you’re looking for the best snow and the most exhilarating experience, here are some fantastic options.

Wolf Creek Mountain

Wolf Creek Mountain is one of the biggest and best resorts in the state, boasting 3,500 acres of skiable terrain and 23 runs. The mountain is located in the beautiful town of Parker. If you’re looking to combine a little retail therapy with your skiing holiday, then you’ve come to the right place. There are over 170 shops and restaurants on-mountain, while off-mountain there is a whole โ€˜nother town called Wolf Creek with all the amenities you might need.

This is the place to be if you love the powder. With nightlife and activity all year round, you’ll have the option of having a relaxing day or enjoying the thrills of a night on the town. If you haven’t been to Wolf Creek in a while and want to return to the roots of the sport you enjoy so much, then this is the place to do it.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort

Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort covers 2,600 acres and is located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The run-skiing and nightlife are reminiscent of the golden era of skiing. However, this year, the ski village is expanding and a new canopy tour will be opening, which will allow even more people to enjoy the experience.

There are 122 trails at Arapahoe Basin, ranging from gentle greens to advanced black runs. Experts can enjoy the slopes in all conditions while beginner skiers can practice their turns on the more beginner-friendly terrains. There are also daily snowboard and ski demos for all ages.

Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs is the capital city of Colorado and the third-largest in the state. The best way to explore it is on foot. As the tourism and recreation hub of the area, Colorado Springs is a hub of activity with over 200 parks, 25 golf courses, and over a dozen museums. It’s fair to say that you could fill a whole week with cultural activities and attractions in Colorado Springs alone.

But it’s the winter season and you’re here for the snow. Colorado Springs is home to world-class golf courses and sprawling ski resorts. You can take a dip in the city’s seven-story indoor pool or dry off in the city’s nine tennis courts. If you are looking for excitement, there is also the option of taking a ski bus up to the top of Colorado Spring’s main ski resort for some freeride action. This year, the city is adding a snow park, featuring the country’s first-ever double-black diamond run. It’s set to open in early 2021.

Mountain View Ski Resort

Located in the shadows of the majestic Rocky Mountains, Mountain View Ski Resort is a small, locals-only resort that gets buried under a blanket of snow each year. This year, it is celebrating its 30th anniversary and looking forward to welcoming back guests and locals who have been missing the powder.

It wasn’t always this way. Before 1994, when the resort was purchased by a corporation, it did not exist. What the town lacked in infrastructure it more than made up for in ambition. Since the purchase, the mountain has been transformed into a paradise for powder hounds. With 12 trails, expertly crafted freeride terrain, and a snow park with an alpine slide, this is one of the best small resorts in the country.
