Where To Park At Northstar Ski Resort? [Updated!]

Spread the love

Northstar Ski Resort is located in Northern Minnesota and straddles the Canada–US border. The resort officially opened its season on October 15th, 2019 and is one of the popular choices for an autumn ski getaway. With a vertical drop of 1,179 metres (3,937 feet), Northstar is a bit of an adventure ski resort and is a great destination for those who don’t mind a longer ski run. The longest ski run is aptly named “The Grand Tour,” and it is a 6.9km (4.3-mile) spectacular. According to legend, when you complete the grand tour, the snow god throws down his boot and says goodbye until next winter season!

If you’re looking for a less adventurous ski trip but still want to visit one of the best resorts in North America, there are other options as well. You can drive to Boreal Mountain Resort in Canada, which is only a few hours away. Although there are no road connections directly between the two resorts, you can connect via the Elliot Lake Airport. This way, you’ll be able to enjoy an entire ski day without having to leave the comfort of your car.

The closest international airport is in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. From there, it’s a short flight to Minneapolis–St. Paul, the nearest airport. From there, it’s only a 30-minute drive to the resort. With a bit of planning, you can have a memorable and possibly transformative experience at Northstar this winter season.

The Best Time To Visit Northstar

One of the best times to visit Northstar is between late October and early November, when the leaves are changing colours and the temperatures are getting a bit chillier. The snow is still good and can handle some early-morning hikes or school group ski trips. This is also the time when you can catch some amazing sunsets and enjoy the scenery.

However, if you’re looking for some excitement and are considering the resort for an extreme adventure, you should visit between December and March. This is when the slopes are at their best because of the deep snow and a biting wind that usually accompanies winter. It’s also the time when you can have a really unique experience, as the locals usually wear warm clothes, including parka, fleece and snowflake-patterned scarves. The snow can also become dangerously icy, so beware of hidden dangers when venturing off the trail.

In both cases, you can have a memorable experience at Northstar because of the breathtaking views and the spirit of adventure that comes with exploring the unknown. Just make sure you’re prepared for the cold and go prepared with a parka and snow boots. You can also bring some warmer clothes for the evening, as the temperature can drop to lows.

One of the best things about Northstar is how close it is to both the Canadian and American borders. You can easily cross the border and buy a drink at one of the bars on the American side. This way, you can truly have a hybrid holiday and be both Canadian and American for the day. You can also take a bus or drive all the way down to the border and buy some souvenirs for the friends and family you’ll encounter along the way.

How To Get There

The best way to get to Northstar is by car. There is one main highway that connects the resort to the rest of the world: the Eisenhower Expressway. This is an expressway that runs from the Downtown areas of the Twin Cities all the way to the Canadian border. Follow the signs and you’ll arrive at your destination in no time. The journey from the Twin Cities to Northstar is about an hour and a half. You can also take the Blue Line West Metro Transit bus from the Mall of America to the West End Transit Center, where you can connect to Highway 9 and take the scenic route to the resort.

If you’re flying into the Elliot Lake airport, the closest major airport to the resort is Minneapolis–St. Paul Bennett Airport. From there, it’s only a 30-minute drive to the entrance of Northstar. You can also take the Westshore Airport Expressway, which connects the airport to Interstate 94 westbound. This is the preferred route to take, as it avoids the city centre of Minneapolis, where you might encounter traffic delays.

It’s best to arrive at the resort in the afternoon, as there is no parking lot at the entrance. You will have to park in one of the many lots that surround the resort and walk to the hotel or condo where you’ll stay. If you arrive at the airport in the morning, there will be no chance of finding a space at the resort, as it will be busy with skiers and snowboarders arriving for the day and you’ll waste a lot of time trying to find a parking spot.

Northstar is a great destination for an auto-themed event. If you’re looking to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or just want to make it an unforgettable holiday for you and your family, consider the resort. In the meantime, we hope this article helped you plan your next ski trip to Northstar!
