How To Draw Skis Easy? [Updated!]

Sharing is Caring

Do you have a passion for skiing? Do you want to be able to draw the beautiful landscapes that come to life under the bright lights at the top of the mountain? How about wanting to learn how to ski so you can be with the people you love most? If so, then you have come to the right place! In this article, we will discuss how to draw skis easy and inexpensively. All you need is a pencil, paper, and a little patience.

First, Start At The Simplest Level

Before you can draw any fancy-looking skis, you will first need to start at the very basic level and practice drawing simpler shapes and forms. The easiest way to do this is by starting with a tutorial for children. Most likely, you will have access to plenty of these tutorials on YouTube, which you can watch and follow along. If not, then you can also find a few good ones to follow online. The main point is to just get started and practice with basic shapes until you are confident that you can draw a straight line without struggling too much. Once you reach that point, you can move on to the more complicated parts.

The Main Parts Of A Ski

Once you have gotten used to drawing simple shapes and forms, it is time to proceed to the more complicated part and learn about the anatomy of a ski. This will help you figure out how to draw the overall shape of the ski and where to place the bindings, boots, and other important details. The best place to start is the cover, since this is what the skier is wearing and it will help you figure out how to draw the shape of the ski correctly. First, draw a circle around the cover. You can use this same technique to draw the overall shape of the ski. Next, draw two squares on either side of the circle. These are your hips and your knees, which are the two main joints that allow you to move when skiing. Your thighs and your neck should connect to the two squares, and your arms should connect to the two smaller squares below your waist. Once you have drawn all of these components, you can start to shade the shapes and add some realism by giving the skier’s hat some depth and dimension.

How To Draw The Overall Shape Of A Ski

Now that you have drawn the circle for the cover, it is time to add the shape of the ski itself. Begin by connecting the two smaller squares below your waist with your thighs. Next, join your knees with the two larger squares. Finally, draw the bottom edge of the ski and connect it to the two larger squares below your waist. This is your basic technique for drawing a ski. Now, you can add some finery by adding more joints and shapes to the formula.

Where To Place The Bindings

Once you have drawn the circle and placed your smaller squares for your hips and knees, it is time to move on to the next important part of a ski. Your feet will always be the last thing you think about when skiing, but they are the most important part of your skiing experience. For this part of the tutorial, you will need to practice and get familiar with the location of the bindings on your feet. Start by putting one foot in front of the other and create an X with your feet. You will notice that the inside of your foot is more suited for skiing, while the outside of your foot is more suitable for walking or running. Place the front of your foot on the line between the two larger squares and make sure that your heel points forward. Your knee should be slightly bent as you stand in front of a mirror. Once you are happy with the position of your feet, you can start to shade the inside of your foot and add some realism by adding a toe on your right foot (for a right-hand turn) or a heel on your left foot (for a left hand turn).

How To Draw The Boots

Your boots are a crucial part of your skiing experience and are also the part that is most likely to hurt if you do not wear the right ones. For this part of the tutorial, you will again need to practice and get familiar with the shape of your shoes. Start by putting one foot in front of the other and create an X with your feet. Your toes will point forward and your heels will point backwards. The back of your shoes should align with your ankles and heels. The best way to get a realistic look is to add some shadow on the upper part of your shoes, but you can also use a pencil to create some texture on the bottom of your shoes as well.

The Stick

If you have ever watched a Michael Jordan movie, you will know what a “stick” is. This is the part of the ski that helps the skier control their speed and direction. For this part of the tutorial, you will use your arms and not your legs to control your speed and direction. When you are running (or walking fast), your arms should naturally swing forward. Begin by drawing a small rectangle below your arms and connect it to the ground. Your elbow should point backwards and your wrist should point forward. Next, start to shade the top of the rectangle and make it lighter in color. Connect your thumb to the center of the circle and extend all the other fingers towards the outside of the circle. Your palm should face downwards with your wrist above your head. When running, your entire arm should be raised above your head as you look upwards. This is how you draw a ski stick!

How To Draw The Snowflake Design

For the last part of the tutorial, you will learn how to draw the traditional snowflake design that is seen on the top of the slopes. Begin by drawing a small circle in the center of a piece of paper. Your thumb should point outwards as you draw it. Next, join the tip of your thumb with the circle you have just drawn. Your forefinger should point at the center of the circle as it moves around the shape. Your middle finger should point towards the end of the line you draw with your thumb and forefinger. Using your other four fingers, make four small circles inside the big circle. Your pinky should point towards the end of the line you draw with your other fingers. As you draw the circles, your forefinger should move around the big circle in a circular motion. Make sure that you add more detail by giving the snowflake some texture and depth by adding more shading to the circles and lines you make with your hands. Finally, connect the smaller circles you made to the edges of the big circle you started with and make them smaller.

At this point, you should have a good understanding of how to draw a simple ski. From here, you can move on to the more complicated parts of a ski, like the tail and the lift line. These are the parts that make drawing a real ski more difficult. Fortunately, there is a simpler way to draw these complicated structures, which we will discuss next.
