Sharing is Caring

Skiing Yeti Mountain (yeti for short) is one of the newest ski resorts in the US, located in Southwestern Wyoming near the Colorado border. Yeti Mountain is part of the Yeti America ski pass programme, which also includes nearby Snow King Mountain and Grand Targhee Resort. The resort first opened its doors in March 2018 and offers a variety of freeride terrain as well as expert backcountry terrain for more experienced skiers.

The Yeti America Pass

If you visit Yeti Mountain, you will need to purchase the Yeti America pass. This pass gives you access to the entire Yeti America resort as well as the adjacent Snow King Mountain and Grand Targhee Resort. The pass can be purchased at the airport before your flight or at the resort’s front desk. A one-week pass for an adult costs $129 and a child pass (age 12 and under) is $99.

The pass does not include lodging, but there are a variety of options nearby. You can stay at one of the many golf course resorts or even stay at a local hotel. Alternatively, you can make use of the resort’s rental cars, which are available upon request at the front desk.

Terrain

Skiing Yeti Mountain is located in south-western Wyoming and is therefore a bit cooler than most ski resorts, with an average seasonal temperature of 40 degrees. Yeti Mountain is one of the largest resorts in the US, with 120 trails and 12 lifts. Yeti America boasts a 10% slope gradient, making it one of the most challenging resorts in North America. Yeti Mountain is built on an under-rated rock formation, the Wind River Basis. The resort receives high snowfall and as a result is one of the best resorts for snowboarding. Yeti is mostly a dry resort, so be careful not to drink the tap water.

Events

Skiing Yeti Mountain gets its name from the Abominable Snowman, or Yeti, which is native to the region. The first official ski run is dedicated to the infamous alpine beast and is appropriately called โ€œYetiโ€. You can also look out for occasional public torchlight runs through the resort and enjoy some old-school ski fun.

Accommodation

Accommodation options at yeti are limited, but there are a variety of choices, from cheap hotels to lavish golf course resorts. Yeti Mountain does not have any resort-owned accommodation, but instead has a selection of chain hotels and local B&Bs. You can make use of the resort’s rental vehicles, which are available upon request at the front desk.

Other Resorts In The Area

There are other nearby resorts, including the stunning Jackson Hole, which is just over an hour away by car and offers incredible skiing and sightseeing opportunities. Grand Targhee Resort, which is only 15 minutes away from Yeti Mountain, is one of the largest resorts in the US, with 230 trails and 15 lifts. And Snow King Mountain, only 10 minutes away from Yeti, is another option for those seeking adventure on the slopes.

If you visit Yeti Mountain, you could do worse than head for the bar and make the most of the aprรจs-ski life. Yeti America is open all year round and provides an excellent opportunity for recreational skiers to enjoy the snow-covered landscape.
