With the launch of Ski Dubai in 2021, the ski-in/ski-out slopes of the seven-star Burj Khalifa came into being. The opening of the $20 million ski resort marked a new era in the sport. It offered what no other ski resort in the world could: breathtaking views of the city and its luxurious surroundings.

But just how big is Ski Dubai? How many people can it accommodate? How many days a week will it be open? These are some of the most pressing questions for any prospective ski tourist. Fortunately, we were able to get hold of the owner and general manager of Ski Dubai, Mr. Khadem Al-Khalifa, to give us the inside scoop.

How Many People Can Fit In The Resort?

With some careful snowflake count, it is possible to determine that Ski Dubai can hold up to 850 people. This makes it one of the largest ski resorts in the world. It’s bigger than Copper Mountain and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, United States; and Meribel in France. There are more people in the smaller ski areas, but you have to make a few more turns to reach the same altitude.

This is due largely to the presence of Jebel Ali, one of the seven wonders of the modern world. The beautiful man-made island offers a glimpse of paradise and a getaway for luxury-lovers who can afford the $28,000 a week tariff. It’s no wonder that more people want to visit it than any other destination in the world. The luxury resort island of Uma Canggu in Bali, Indonesia, is a close second.

In comparison, the usual weekend at most European and North American ski resorts is around three or four days. The American ski resorts typically open on Thursday and close on Monday. The European ski resorts typically open on Friday and close on Wednesday. This gives the impression that if you want to ski during prime season in Europe, you have to go to South America or the Caribbean Islands. There are also some Norwegian ski resorts, such as Bodø and Stromma, that stay open throughout the year.

How Many Destinations Can The Resort Offer?

This is one of the main reasons behind the massive size of the resort. It can host European and North American skiers who want to make the most of the snow season, but who are unable to commit to a full month in a European or North American ski resort. For those who only have a week or less, the perfect alternative is Ski Dubai.

The world’s 7th-largest ski resort is home to numerous destinations. It has 18 trails that meander around the entire mountain, ranging in difficulty from green beginners’ trails to expert alpine terrains and backcountry trails. If you can’t decide where to start, the resort’s expert team of guides will help you choose the right trail for your experience level.

Ski Dubai prides itself on its innovative, modern design. It features the iconic, spherical steel Burj Khalifa as its centerpiece, with the whole mountain wrapped in a reflective surface that enhances the experience of skiing. The resort also offers a snow park with a giant bubble slide and a beginner’s snow dome, as well as an ice cave lined with ice sculptures.

What Kind Of Equipment Do They Provide?

Ski Dubai provides the absolute necessities for a comfortable ski experience. It features eight ski shops, ranging from large retail stores to specialized boutiques that only sell ski equipment. This means that regardless of what you are looking for, you are bound to find it. This also means that there is a lot of choice when it comes to buying equipment. Some of the brands represented include Swiss fashion house, Ettinger, Canada’s ski and outdoor performance wear brand, Snow Shark, and France’s Megavalier brand.

Ski Dubai makes sure that its customers are well-equipped for their sporting activities by providing them with ski gear that is suited to the conditions they are likely to encounter. For example, the resort’s team of specialists ensures that its clients have the right ski shoes and bindings for the snow and weather conditions. Similarly, they test and adjust the equipment before the season starts so that the user is comfortable and protected in the harshest of conditions.

To give you an idea of what kind of equipment Ski Dubai provides, here are some of the items you will find stored in one of the shops:

These are just a small selection of the equipment that you will find in one of the shops. It is important to note that while some of the items on this list are suited for both skiing and board sports like snowboarding, others are specifically designed for skiing. For example, the ski mask is not designed to protect your ears from the whipping wind as you ride a mountain bike. This is why you may find some bike shops at European and North American ski resorts but not at the smaller ones.

What Is The Season Like?

Ski Dubai operates all year round, which is unusual for a spot this high in the northern hemisphere. While there is no specific season for skiing, the resort is certainly at its best from mid-June to October. This is when the snow stays on for the whole year, which means there is always something to do.

The best time for a visit to the mountain top is between June and October. Traveling during off-season is more than affordable, with prices decreasing by up to 30%. This is primarily because there aren’t as many people around, which leads to less competition for the limited number of lifts. Traveling during the low season also means that you will have the resort all to yourself. There aren’t any other travelers or locals around, so you will have the chance to enjoy the serenity of a deserted mountain.

During the offseason, you will only find locals in the village, which is a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere. It is also a good place to visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world below.

How Is The Transport To The Resort?

This is another important consideration, especially if you are planning to visit the resort during the offseason. It’s one thing to drop a couple of thousand dollars on a taxi ride to the hotel. It’s another thing entirely to spend another $20,000-plus on a one-way ski ticket. Luckily, there is plenty of public transport near the resort. The Burj Khalifa is literally seconds away from the Resorts Ave, which is the stop for the SkyBus. This is a shared, air-conditioned bus that takes you to the top of the mountain in less than 10 minutes. Fare is $2.50.

Alternatively, you can take the cable car to the top of the Mountain and catch the bus there. The journey takes about 25 minutes and is $12.50 per person. The cable car stop is called the EyeOpener, and from there it’s only a 5-minute walk to the summit. This is where the luxury resort island of Ski Dubai is waiting for you.

Summit Time

There are a few things you need to do at the summit. First, you have to buy a $25 permit to enter the observation deck. You can also buy a $25 audio guide for additional information on the mountain and its facilities. Next, you need to find the lodge where you can rent ski equipment. Remember: rentals are cheaper in the off-season. Finally, you need to find a bar and eat something, even if it’s just a juice or coffee. This is because at the top of the mountain, there are no restaurants or eateries of any kind, which is why everyone is there for the same purpose: to have fun.

Hopefully, this article about how big is Ski Dubai will help you understand the all-important question: is it worth visiting? We think so. The resort is one of the best in the world, and it makes the most of the incredible mountain scenery and temperate climate. The only way to find out for sure is to go there and try it out for yourself.
